Abemelek Ashagrie
Hi, I am Abemelek. I’m Ethiopian, but lived the past 7 years in Switzerland. I am a first year undergraduate student majoring in Biomedical Engineering and also anticipate on taking a Pre-Medicine track. Although I haven’t had any professional experience in research in the past, I have previously studied the different approaches taken to adopt artificial neural networks to improve the medical diagnosis of malaria in sub-Saharan Africa. This gained my interest in the broad and ever improving field of biomedical imaging. I look forward to enhance my understanding in the field by undergoing research in pulmonary CT imaging under the supervision of Professor Sarah Gerard. Outside of research, I am an International Student Ambassador and participate in the ‘Friends of International Students’ program.
